Course Overview
This course explores how environmental challenges are driving industry transitions regarding refrigerants. Utilizing industry knowledge, fact sheets, case histories, and examples of common current refrigerants and alternatives to these refrigerants, this course will provide an understanding of how to implement refrigerants in compliance with regulations. A Willdan representative will discuss how energy efficiency utility incentive programs are shifting to include more decarbonization metrics to assist in the change to low GWP refrigerants and a Chemours representative will provide an overview of equipment goals and criteria to consider when deciding which refrigerant will work best to help meet the equipment goals. Explaining the basic retrofit steps, with consideration to R-22 conversion and R-404A conversion. This course focuses on what can be done now, as well as areas to focus on in the future.
Learning Objectives
- Identify the regulation transitions in the industry in regard to the GWP of refrigerants.
- Describe the challenges and opportunities of low GWP refrigerants.
- Identify refrigerants that can work with systems to meet equipment goals.
- How to navigate utility incentives to ease the transition and offset the initial costs of adoption.
- Create a plan to adjust your firm’s projects to meet current and projected future regulations.
