Course Overview

This course explores how heat pump water heaters contribute to decarbonization efforts. Utilizing industry knowledge, sample layouts, and examples showing student housing, senior living, and multi-family housing this course will provide an understanding of how to implement heat pump water heaters and where design teams can see the biggest impact both in savings and efficiency. A Nyle representative will provide an overview of which Nyle systems work best for different climates, along with how the systems can save money and energy during electric grid peak times. It explores the current refrigerants being used in these systems and where the future of refrigerants is headed as consumers lean towards low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants. How design teams can tap into energy efficiency programs to offset the initial costs of adopting these measures will also be addressed.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify which heat pump water heater is right for a firm’s project to help meet its decarbonization goals.
  2. Describe how using a low GWP heat pump water heater affects harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
  3. Describe challenges and opportunities in using heat pump water heaters.
  4. Identify high-performance measures to be used in a firm’s projects.
