SUMMARY:Energy Decarbonization Blueprint with AIA Long Beach/South Bay
DESCRIPTION:Join CEDA as we partner with AIA Long Beach/South Bay to present Energy Decarbonization Blueprint worth 1 LU/HSW! \n  \nCourse Description\nCalifornia’s electric grid is rapidly evolving\, creating new opportunities—and new considerations—for building design. Through four case studies representing multifamily housing\, K–12 education\, healthcare\, and office projects\, this course examines how project teams can develop practical energy decarbonization strategies that align with the state’s changing energy infrastructure. \nParticipants will explore how anticipated grid decarbonization affects the selection and performance of building systems across different project types. The course will compare the carbon impacts of design decisions today with projected average grid emissions in 2030 and 2050\, helping attendees understand how to evaluate long-term operational carbon\, energy efficiency\, electrification\, and building resilience. The session will provide a framework for creating an energy decarbonization blueprint that supports high-performing\, healthy\, and future-ready buildings. \n  \nLearning Objectives\n\nIdentify how the decarbonization of California’s electric grid affects building design\, energy use\, and operational carbon emissions.\nCompare energy-system strategies for multifamily\, education\, healthcare\, and office projects based on their carbon impacts today and under projected 2030 and 2050 grid conditions.\nDescribe key challenges and opportunities associated with electrification\, energy efficiency\, resilience\, and system selection across common building types.\nApply an energy decarbonization framework to inform early project decisions that support long-term building performance\, occupant health\, safety\, and welfare.\n\n
